Owner and Director
Martin has owned and operated businesses in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors for over 40yrs, and describes himself as both a serial entrepreneur and an evangelist for private enterprise. For over ten years he was an FE college governor and for twelve years an elected Ward Councillor in what was then his North London home borough of Enfield. Martin’s Council focus was on business, employment and enterprise, and he chaired the award-winning Enfield Life Opportunities Commission in 2009/10.
In recent years, Martin entered the hospitality sector by acquiring two now-thriving country pub/restaurants under his Nutwood Pubs brand. Despite the challenges of recent years, he remains confident that the combination of high-quality food and drinks with a traditional English countryside welcome will always be the heart of any community. Martin is devoted to his partner and their combined family of six adult children.
General Manager -The Pheasant
Meg has been working in the hospitality industry for 9 years, starting as a part time pot wash at the Woodman Inn, before quickly realising she would be better suited to a front of house role.
Through the years, Meg matured and developed in this role whilst also pursuing her degree in Manchester. She got herself a job in a few bars in Manchester, including getting some cocktail training at Albert Schloss. Whilst continuing to work at The Woodman during the holidays.
When covid hit she was offered a full time role at the Woodman managing before moving over to be General Manager at the Pheasant where she still is today.
Meg is organised, enthusiastic, resilient, dedicated to delivering great customer service and experiences for all customers whether stopping for a quick pint or staying for longer.
Group Marketing and Events Manager
With over two decades in the hospitality industry, Natalie has worked across the globe. Her hospitality and events experience began in South Africa where she worked in country clubs, before moving onto 5-star resorts in the UAE, as well as pubs, wine bars and restaurants in the UK and Tanzania. After about 10 years in the business, she turned her focus to weddings. Initially managing destination weddings on the tropical island of Zanzibar, before moving back to the UK to gain valuable operations experience in the luxury wedding industry.
Natalie has joined Nutwood Pubs at a time of growth, and we look forward to seeing The Woodman Inn squarely on the wedding map.
